Lighthouse LED Video Makes an Impact at TCU

Part of a $105 million renovation project, Lighthouse and TS Sports have helped redecorate Texas Christian University’s Amon G. Carter stadium with two giant IMPACT 16 LED video screens. At one end of the stadium, watching over the Horned Frogs’ home turf, is the main LED video display, standing over 30′ high and measuring more than 55′ across. The auxiliary screen, situated in a corner of the opposite end zone, measures 28′ wide by 19′ high. Anthony James Partners designed the system to integrate with TCU’s iconic Amon G. Carter …

Television Makes Promises that LED Video Delivers

Watching sports on television is more of a national pastime than THE national pastime. The habit of watching replays, close-ups and statistics on a television makes LED video a natural extension of the live sports experience, and a financial boon for both advertisers and venues. While traveling to most of Lighthouse’s major LED video installations, I’m struck each time by a phenomena that seems at once natural and strange, a bet-the-farm dynamic between crowd and game and LED video screen. Fans are accustomed to watching sports on their home flat …

    Sports, Sponsorship and LED Video

A few nights ago I had the pleasure of watching the Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball team play an early season game against Ferris State. As a sports fan and an industry “veteran,” whenever I watch live sports I pay particular attention to the scoreboards, video screens, ad panels, and the general production of the game. How does it relate to the live game? Are the operators improving the live experience by coordinating with the live experience, or are they simply playing a set program during the game breaks? How is …
